Espero que ustedes tienen un gran Día de Gracias ! (Hope y’all have a dope Thanksgiving tomorrow) … I’ll be eating a sweet sack dinner hahah, but it’s chill because I get to do some service stuff.
It’s been a pretty awesome week. I have learned so much spanish in 6 weeks it seems unreal…
So, I got a notice saying that me and a couple other elders need to go to Salt lake City to get our visas at the Mexican consulate. YEET! Got to leave the MTC for the first time in a month. As soon as we got outside, it felt so nice hahah, We talked to a bunch of people. We visited with Darren on the train ride over. Darren is a 60-year-old Mormon who has an awesome story of how he found his way back to the church after years of falling away. We got to Salt Lake and it was sooo sick to be walking around somewhere that wasn’t the MTC.
We finally got to the consulate and we had 30 minutes to spare. There was a family outside who seemed to be foreign, so we went to talk with them. The dad’s name is Alfredo and they are from MEXICO! They only spoke Spanish! We talked for about 20 minutes in only Spanish! I understood most of what he was saying and could respond back pretty easily. He said he had never heard of the Book of Mormon but read the bible and believed faithfully in Jesus. He was sooooo open to talking about it and said it was really interesting to him. He wanted to know more so we gave him the number of the Spanish Branch of the MTC because, lamely, no one had a BoM on them in Spanish! I was so mad at myself for not bringing one! But it was so cool to teach about El Libro de Mormon to an actual Mexican. I love Alfredo!
I did however bring an English BoM, so I gave it to someone we were talking to on the train who was from Guadalajara, Mexico but spoke English as well! He seemed almost as interested, so it was an awesome experience! Also, when I told him I was going to Mexico City, he looked pretty scared for me and said be super careful, haha, so that’s gonna be dope.
After we got our visas, we were walking back to the train station and we saw a burger place called Chedda Burger and it looked soooo good. We decided we needed to eat something other than MTC food or we were gonna die. We went in and they gave us all meals for free! I’ve never been more happy to eat a burger in my life. It was sooooo good!
We committed all our fake investigators to baptism! Lol, but I really did feel the Spirit super strong when I invited them and more so when they said “yes”! The last fútbol game with the Russian/British peeps was way fun and the Latino boys destroyed them 5-2. I got the last goallllll.
I literally am soooo anxious to get to Mexico I want to be there now more than ever. Like sooo bad, hahah, but it’s all good. Just a week and a half left!
I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God.
I know that God lives.
I know that, through constant prayer, He has helped me learn Spanish.
I know that this church blesses people and I’m so stoked to be a part of it !
Yo homies back home read the BoM … even if you don’t think it’s true, give it a read and email me how ya feel. Also, email me [email protected] please.
