8 Investigators at Church, Kids Become Missionaries, and Saying Goodbye to Pres. Mecham

This week’s been rad!  On Sunday, I studied about the atonement, I prayed to understand it more and to be prepared for the sacrament, and I thought of all the ways I can improve as a member and a missionary. I didn’t think about calling our investigators, I didn’t worry myself about if they’d come or not…I just simply prepared myself to worthily and righteously take the sacrament.  It was amazing.  8 investigators came and 3 of which had told us they would not be able to come.  They came and loved it and scheduled visits with us instead of waiting for us to ask them!

Our investigators house in Jersulam (far away).

I also was able to see Nathan pass the sacrament for the first time, and was able to sustain him as the second counselor of the Deacon’s Quorum.  I saw his smile as he passed the sacrament to his family and I started to cry, and I cried and cried for the whole sacrament thanking God for my blessings.  I was able to be an instrument in the hands of God to bring this miracle to a family.  I was able to help him find the joy and comfort that the gospel brings us.  It was a spirit filled and beautiful sacrament meeting.  This sacrament meeting meant more to me than any other in my life; I really understand the need to renew our covenants each week and the need to spread the gospel.  I am going to prepare myself every week for the rest of my life for the sacrament.  I will never forget this week.

More of the Niños.

Last week we had a super awesome activity with all the kids 8-12 in the stake and they were all given an assignment from the stake president as full time missionaries (not sure if its apostasy or not).  But it was way rad, me and Elder de la Rosa made a labyrinth of chairs and taught the kids the importance of modern day prophets.  They tried going through the maze without looking and couldn’t.  Then, we had someone guide them and they were able to do it, haha.  They bore their testimonies and promised us to share the gospel with their friends at escuela.  Super awesome!  I felt the spirit so much with those little doods.  One bore her testimony that she knew that her friend, who had died 3 days earlier of cancer, is now in a better place.  It was so sad but she was so happy because she really does have a testimony of the plan of salvation.  It was an amazing experience, then all the missionaries in the zone went to eat at a member’s house and they cooked us burgers and said goodbye to President Mecham and his wife.  They finish their mission in 4 weeks :(((((( but it was super awesome to eat with all the zone and members.

President and Sister Mecham, the best President ever.

My new comp is awesome.  He works hard, so we are working way hard together.

We were talking with Irma Hector’s family and they are so awesome.  We had such a spiritual lesson with them.  We talked about the importance of having faith in Christ and God.  They told me that I helped them get to know Christ and that they are now praying and reading and going to church because of their love of Christ and of God.  Then they said: “But you led us to this path.  We love you so much Elder Turner.”  I started to cry so hard.  They went on and said so many amazing things and I felt the Spirit.  I know they’re gonna get baptized some day, maybe not by me, but they will be baptized!

Also, we have a bit of a problem.  One of my investigators might get killed by a Colombian gang.  The Colombians ride around on motos and let people borrow money with interest.  She owes them 5 mil pesos, so its super sketch.  They’ve killed a lot of people for money and beat the living you-know-what out of others, so she’s super scared.

I love ya lots and I hope everything’s going well back home.

Peace out,

Elder Turner

Aztec cake is sooooooo good.
