Birthday Cake, Moving Bricks, and Speedy Spanish

May 1

Mom, you have been the best mother a person could ask for. You really have shown me how to love purely and how to show people that love and I am so grateful for your example and for all that you’ve done for me. I see what a lot of kids are missing here in Mexico and it’s a truly good and loving mother. I am so grateful to have you in my life. I use you as an example in so many of our lessons because you have done so much for me. I am so grateful for the opportunity to live in a family centered on Christ. I know that I would not have been happy without the gospel or our wonderful family. I am eternally grateful and in debt to you mom.

FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS!!!!!!!!!!! Le amo mucho y espero que tenga lo mejor día hoy.

This week has been full of teaching the good news and performing service.
I had a pretty sweet B-day on Saturday: we helped Marisol and her family move 200 cinderblocks from the top of a giant dirt hill to the bottom and I was dying at the end. But I felt so good cause we got to help them! I love service, but I love baptisms more! That night we had a baptism for Fernando! which was sweet. He’s a good kid and now he’s even better.

We also went to a super nice restaurant cuz some members wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. It’s way funny that every time that we walk into a restaurant with music, the workers see me and change the music to English. Then on Sunday, we went to Antonin’s house to eat pizza and a cake. I guess its tradition to shove the B-day boy’s face into the cake after he tries to take a bite:)

The Birthday Dinner?

I learned a lot this week about how we can grow our faith and why it is necessary you do the things necessary to grow your testimony: read the scriptures, pray, go to church, love others, and put God’s promises into action!

I love ya guys soooo much and I love the work here in Contreras.

Hey Hudson

Doooooood its your birthday!!!!!!! And you’re a Deacon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s so awesome Hudson. I’m so proud of you. ! You are such an awesome person and now you’re a holder of the power and authority of God. He trusts you so much because you are so much like His only Begotten Son. You are following the footsteps of Christ, Hudson! You are happy, and grateful, and kind, and wonderful, and I know you’re gonna be the best deacon in the world. My recent convert, Nathan, is about to get the priesthood this next week! It’s amazing to see you both so grown up! I love you lots, bud, and I know you’re gonna pass the sacrament and bring the spirit every single Sunday. You’re awesome and I wanna be more like you Huddy buddy!

p.s. we are gonna go to Mexico when I get back as your birthday present 😉

It was awesome to see you guys (via Facetime) yesterday. It brought back soooo many good memories!

It’s been a good week, I hope we will have another baptism in 2 weeks! Its Lourdes from the taco stand my first few week in Mexico!

I have been studying in how to improve our teaching skills and really all it comes down to is loving the people enough to where they can feel it and feel the need to change and so we can help them with those changes. It really is simple. If you love ‘em, you’ll do ‘em good.

Spanish has suprisingly come so much faster and easier than I thought. I have felt the Lord’s help each day as I have been learning.

Antonin’s wife, Horey, has been in every lesson and has gone to church almost every week. She knows that what we teach and what we do is the truth, but she is scared and skeptical of baptism. I know she will get baptized soon enough. I’m not too worried, We just gotta wait and let the members and the Spirit work on her. Antonin’s kids are: Nathan, Willie and Oliver and Nathan is baptized and Willie only has 7 years.

I have been reading in 3 Nephi lately and I love it. So many awesome scriptures. One of my favorite, 3 Nephi 8:1 “and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity…”

I love this scripture, and it inspires me to be better and better each day so that i can be able to perform miracles here in Contreras. I know that in order to have the Spirit, we gotta be as close to perfect as possible. I love the work and the scriptures soooooo much- “they’re gold mines for happy times. ” – Elder Slade Turner

I love you so much Mom and I’m so grateful for you and for the family! Thanks for all you do.
