Life is amazing.
We had a pretty slow week this week until the end.
Whoaaa general conference was amazing! So much stuff to learn and relearn and re-relearn. We have a prophet of God on the Earth today and he loves and cares for us.
I loved the talk by Elder Massimo de Feo, “Pure Love: The True Sign of Every True Disciple of Jesus Christ”. We need to love God and all men more. How can we grow our love for each other? How can we grow closer to Christ and God? Live as they live. Live with love in our heart and in our countenance. Show love to everyone regardless of his or her love for you. You will be happier and better off if you do these things. I know it and have lived it and can testify of its truthfulness.
I also loved the Prophet’s remarks about revelation and how we need to use our priesthood more often. And I received major answers to some of questions I had in mind. Here is an example of one answer I received as described in a letter I wrote to my Mission President: I have had a strong interest in politics for a long time and before my mission I had considered studying and entering politics. While here, I had forgotten nearly all of my political interests. As Conference began, I wanted to know how I could be the brightest light possible to as many people as possible, as a missionary and as a member of this church. During the very first talk President Nelson said something about how we need to engage in politics in order to bring light to this world, and I felt that I needed to be involved somehow politics when I got back. It was instant and strong and undeniable. It was really amazing Dad; I felt the spirit so strong and the words of my patriarchal blessings rang in my ear “you will have many opportunities to visit countries of the world because of your work”. That was just one of the many answers that I received during the Conference this weekend. I especially loved President Nelson’s talk on revelation. I know he is a prophet of God and I could feel it so powerfully.
My other favorite Talks from Conference:
- I loved how Brian Taylor said that God sanctifies our hardest days.
- When hearing Larry Echo’s talk, the scripture “never grow weary of good works” came to mind. And loved his remarks on forgiveness and that peace is a gift from God
- Elder Robbins: Failure is just the many footsteps to success.
- Elder Anderson got me thinking how we could better follow the prophet.
- Elder Bednar: What will I do when I receive a hard commandment? How can I be more meek?
- Elder Godoy: Sacrifice is sacred
Also, I noticed how many speakers spoke of the Second Coming and then, when President Nelson announced temples in Russia and India, I had a thought that maybe its not too far away… President Nelson also has amazing relations with China, so I can see something happening there perhaps next conference. The church is getting bigger and bigger and I love this work and that I get to participate in the growth.
Today we went to Ajusco, which is a huge mountain in Mexico City. We got dropped off at 6:00 in the morning without a flashlight and made it to the top at 10:00. It was amazing and beautiful. We saw the sunrise on the first peak and saw the beauty of God’s creations. It was rad to be there. We then went down the mountain, got lost, found ourselves in a private property with cows and horses everywhere. We had to jump over barbed wire. We eventually made our way back to the road, found phone service and called someone to pick us up, and made it back here safely.
I had an awesome week and amazing answers were received this conference. I love the church and I love my calling as a representative of Jesus Christ.
Love you guys so much.
