McDonalds, Investigators that read the Bible, and Zone Conference

Hey, what’s up boys and girls- I had a dope week with fun and miracles!

Today, we went to McDonalds for my first time in 5 or so months! It was amazing. It’s like a good 3 hour bus ride from our house, but every fast and furious swerve that bus driver did was completely worth it to sink my teeth into a nice Big Mac. We made a pretty big deal about it (Elder Oliphant and me) and took a lot of pics haha.

We had an awesome experience with new investigators! They’re Christians and the son is studying to be a pastor, so they actually read the bible (everyone here in Mexico says they read it but most don’t). So I thought it would be harder to teach them, but its really so much easier! To testify of the Book of Mormon, we read some verses in John 10:16 and then in 3 Nephi 15:12-24. Jesus speaks in Jerusalem of “other sheep” and in 3 Nephi, he explains who the other sheep are. The son was genuinely interested and said, “Well I can’t know if this book is true without reading it. So, can I read it first?” I was so stoked to hear that because, when someone really reads The Book of Mormon and prays about it with real intent and an open heart, there is no doubt in my mind that they will know it is true.

After our zone conference, we have been working hard on what our Mission President taught us: how real conversion comes only through personal study and sincere prayer about the Book of Mormon. The first thing we did as we returned to our area is put his counsel into practice. We taught a first lesson with our investigator and spent the whole time explaining the importance of prayer and scripture study (especially the Book of Mormon). She has a true desire to read and pray in order to know the truth. I am so grateful for my Mission President and the revelation that he receives on behalf of us missionaries. I am trying each day to search and find revelation for myself and my investigators.

The gap we gotta jump to get to Lorenzos house.

Also, I have made a promise to myself and to God that I will always do my very best to be on time to every meeting, activity and appointment that I have. I want to be prepared to receive revelation at all times and being on time will facilitate that.

I love the scripture found in Alma 32:23. It talks about how some little children know things that many times “confound the wise and the learned.” I can’t explain how grateful I am to have known that I am a child of God my whole life. Nearly every kid that has grown up in this church has the same knowledge of our divine family relationship with God as well; not many people know this. I go around telling people every day the things I learned as a child in this church. A kid of 6 years old in our church knows more about who we are and where we are going than the brightest and most educated. Just think about that.

I love this work and I love u guys. Keep being awesome,

Elder Turner
