This week’s been awesome! My new comp and I worked soooo hard and it was so crazy because he’s new to this area and I’ve only been here a month and a half. I have had to remember all the streets and all the buses to take and everything, haha. It was a super stressful week but we worked it soooo nicely. We got 12 new people to teach that are all awesome!
Ivan is a 23 year-old guy and he’s dating an inactive member of the church. We met with him a few times and the whole time he was asking us good questions. Afterwards, he would text us questions too. Well, this last lesson, we taught about the doctrine of the Godhead, specifically that they are three separate beings. This was a really hard concept for him to understand, as he had been raised Catholic and had been taught that the Trinity was three gods in one. So I pulled up James 1:5, which says “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” We then invited him to pray and ask God if what we were teaching was true. We got on our knees and he prayed. He ended the prayer with tears in his eyes and said that he knows that Jesus and God are two different people. It was amazing and the spirit was so strong in the room. It was sooooo cool.
Family Gaytan is this family of 2 grandparents and they want to learn a lot. They stopped us in the street to ask to go to our church and we were so stoked. I think by the end of this week well have baptism dates set with five of our investigators
Enrique and Jasmin are investigating also. They’re 30 and have twins. They both came to church and are praying to know God would have them do.
We were talking to this member that hasn’t been to church in 11 years and he began crying and telling us that he knows what is right and wont stop until his gets his life in order. He’s going to church this week!
We went to this one part in our area that was super destroyed by the earthquake last October and helped out a lot of people. We worked on shoveling out dirt and putting down concrete for like 5 hours. Right now, these people just live in teepees on the dirt. It’s pretty sad.
Idk, haha but what I find fun is different now. I’d rather have appointments on P-day (the missionaries’ day off) than no appointments, haha. I cleaned all of my clothes by hand again, haha, and we get take bucket showers now again, haha, because our showers stopped working.
I have the pic of me and Maverick when I baptized him and its weird to think that that was 2 years ago.
I want to tell you guys that prayer is so real. You have a Father in Heaven, a literal father that created everything in this universe. He has everything, he knows everything, and he can do everything. But he wants to hear from you individually. Isn’t that amazing? He knows us perfectly, but he still wants to hear from us. I invite you all to start to get to know the person who already knows you. Start to pray, and if you are already praying, pray more, and keep in mind that you’re talking to your living Father in Heaven. You will receive answers and blessings.
Love u guys,
Elder Turner
